The 'SAN LUN CHE' - Trillogy |
After the first street performance in the city of Beijing, 'Enter Beijing' [2008 - 2009], and the solo show
'SAN LUN CHE featuring the TERRAPLASTIC ARMY' [2010]
at Anni Art Gallery [798 Art-District, Beijing] Prohaska works currently on the third part of this trillogy. This final work will be an experimental road move, were the artist and his team will try to travel with two 'San Lun Che' from Beijing across the Chinese border to Ula Bator, the capital of Mongolia. During the residency at the 'Gyeonggi Creation Center' in Ansan-Si, South Korea, in winter 2010 / 2011, Rainer Prohaska created 12 new stamps for the 'Austrian Mail Service Company'. The original drawings were showen at the Kunsthalle Krems in Mai 2011. There are still new issues to work on... [since 2010] | |

At the first sight, Korean and Central Europe cooking practice seems to have not much in common.
During the research for a 'Greatest Common Divisor' between those two cultures, an interesting result appeared. Very often, the whole cooking processes, as well as the main ingreediences, are similar. In the interactive performances and cooking experiments, which happend at the 'Gyeonggi Creation Center', Prohaska showed examples for these parallels. | |

In den Laborräumen der Berggasse 11 entstand eine Installation, die aus zwei verschiedenen Materialgruppen gebaut wurde.
Einerseits entwickelten sich sowohl Ästhetik als auch Funktion der Räume mit Elementen die der Künstler in den Räumen vorgefunden hatte, andererseits aus Bauteilen, die sich im Laufe der Jahre im Studio des Künstlers als übrig gebliebene Dinge angesammelt haben. Die Bauweise entspricht der Technik, die sich wie ein roter Faden durch vergangenen Projekten zieht: lösbare Verbindungen, hergestellt durch Schraubzwingen, Ratschen-Zurrgurte und Kabelbinder. Ein dreistöckiger Gerüstturm und Scherenhebebühnen werden zu einem Koch-Automat
umfunktioniert. Diese „Maschine“ wird vom Publikum selbst betrieben. Dabei bereiten die Teilnehmer,

It broaches the issue of 'Cooking as an Authentic Form of Fine and Performing Arts', and shows in this context cooking performances in an audiovisual surrounding. In the course of a 10 week boat journey from Krems/Austria to Ruse/Bulgaria Rainer Prohaska and his crew built a swimming sculpture. The extensions of the boat took place during the trip on the river Danube. All used materials and objects where found, bought or exchanged in the regions along the river banks. [2007 - 2008] | |

The word 'Gazebo' stands for a building that is free-standing, roofed, open to the sides and mainly found in parks, gardens and areas of the public space. Just like a pavilion, it offers shade, protection and quietness. [2008] | |
