[UN]Relations between Machines and Nature

The group exhibition Kaltstart brings together artistic positions that explore the engine, the wheel, and the vehicle as both visual motifs and cultural symbols. At the heart of the exhibition is a new site-specific installation by the Vienna-based artist Rainer Prohaska, created for the museum's entrance area.

For many years, Prohaska has developed mobile sculptures and experimental vehicles that connect art, technology, and the social dimensions of mobility. His works are often constructed from reclaimed materials and activated through performative interventions in public space. In 2023, he created a floating sculpture in Solothurn that, after being exhibited inside a church, was transformed into a raft on the River Aare, allowing visitors to cross the river aboard a work of art.

Kaltstart is complemented by works by Martin Reukauf, Pierre Alain Münger (PAM), and Reto Emch, who approach the subject of the vehicle from painterly, sculptural, and performative perspectives.
